A brand new meteor shower is set to light up the night skies on the night of May 23 and early morning of May 24. It’s called the Camelopardalid meteor shower and it’s happening because, for the first time, earth is passing through the debris from Comet 209P/LINEAR. As with all meteor showers, it’s hard to predict exactly how many meteors will be visible but according to William Cooke, head of the Meteoroid Environment Office at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center speaking to USA Today "It could be practically nothing, or it could be a couple hundred meteors per hour". People in North America will have the best view and peak activity will be between the hours of 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. ET Saturday May 23. Are you an avid stargazer?
